Is Step 1 required for a medical clerkship?

hey guys,

I am a student from Germany and just want to know, is Step 1 necessary to do a clinical clerkship (equivalent to the German "Famulatur")? Are you not allowed to do practical work on the patient without Step 1 or is this not true?

Depends on your school. At mine you don't have to - I ended up taking Step 1 halfway through my third year.
