It's been worrying me after seeing many Canadians not get an interview/ get rejected from Temple University albeit having stellar stats. Can someone please explain to me why this is happening? I REALLY want to go to Temple, simply because of their clinical strength. It's just something I value. Thanks!

What are these stellar stats you speak of? If they are as stellar as you say, these Canadian cats would be getting accepted into Canadian dental schools, no? If their stats were too high, they might have been rejected due to so-called "Tufts Syndrome." Or, it might be that American public schools prefer American students... what a concept 😉

Good luck though. If Temple is really your top choice, make it known to them and you might get brownie points.

Some people don't apply to Canadian schools, like myself. What is "Tufts Syndrome"? Why would a school not accept students with high stats?

Because they want to take students from their own country. Nothing beats using a coined name for disappointment.

Is this the same reason why a Canadian school would not accept an United States resident? Maybe the Canadians are lucky!

It might be premature to sound the alarm. Why not wait at least until the current acceptances are finalized/published. In the worst case scenario, maybe Temple figured out that the Canadian and US grading systems are quite different and that Canadian stellar stats are not quite what they are purported to be.
