Is testing June 20, 2020 considered late and might hurt my chances in the 2020-2021 cycle?

I plan to submit my primary on June 1st to one school, get it verified, pre-write ALL my secondaries end of June/July, and then (if my MCAT score is good enough) apply to all schools once I get my score back July 21. Would applying this late in the cycle hurt my application?

I'd be on the look out for any AAMC/(Insert medical schools of your choice here) news about prolonging the cycle or any new deadlines. Who knows if the MCAT will be postponed entirely until June/July. Like others have said in this board, everything here is speculation. I'm not an expert, but if there is a year where it would be ok to be late on applications, this would be the year to be late.

this was my exact plan last cycle and I have multiple acceptances. Good luck!

It is totally doable-- heres the thing though. I did something similar my first cycle and it ****ing sucked. Imagine studying for the mcat while trying to write your primary and pre-write your secondaries. is it doable? Totally. Will the date of July 20th confirmation be harmful ? No. But its going to make your life hell lol. Take it from a guy who did it the right way the second time and enjoyed life 10000 times more.

Agree with above. Writing secondaries + studying for the MCAT will be a nightmare. Seriously just pre-write everything NOW before you MCAT study or take the MCAT earlier so you can focus on apps. It’s probably doable but why put yourself through that

This might be an unpopular opinion, but w/o a MCAT score now (and whether the test center would open on your scheduled exam date) you might want to consider applying next cycle (or have a backup plan).

IMHO, if there's an extension of med school deadlines it might be a small one. They can't delay matriculation so the "show must go on" even with MCAT cancellation in the upcoming weeks/months. There are already a handful of applicants already have their MCAT score and ready to apply, so I doubt in reality schools will be accommodating with the deadlines.

I do hope things turn out better though, for the upcoming cycle.

I think it’s possible that the cycle may be shifted by a couple months, in which case a June mcat will be fine.

But you definitely should have contingencies in line in case you have to apply next year etc.

Not unpopular at all. It’s for sure the best thing to do. Rushing it is very risky. You’re pretty much praying everything falls into place vs having everything in place and coasting in with confidence.

It's a pre-med delusion that you're late by mid-June. You're fine for MCAT even by August

If COVID-19 does not affect your test date or application window: You're fine. You won't be late. Execute this. Make sure you are on top of the submission of your LOE's and transcripts. Get verification from the upcoming AAMC Virtual Fair.
