I was looking at the official DAT practice test from the ADA and when I was looking over the QR section it seemed ridiculously easy- easier than SAT Math. Now I am only a frosh in college, but why are so many people here scoring so low on it? It's just basic word problems that a 5 or 6th grade could probably do- right? Is the time the main concern? (I realize that 20/30 doesn't mean 2/3's correct, but how do people miss more than a question or two?)

Just curious - if you've actually taken the DAT QR and you've taken the SAT 1 Math could you post your scores for them as I want to see what one can expect with a certain SAT score. Or is this a stupid idea and are the two tests completely different?

I don't understand though, what makes it hard?

Timing?
Trick Questions like the SAT?
Topics in Math that you haven't covered? (Like what)

I was talking my relative who said a 30 on the QR is easy if you can get an 800 on your SAT math.

Yes, it's time that kills you. Each problem isn't all that hard and some are ridiculously easy. But if the solution doesn't pop into your head within seconds of reading the question, you're likley going to have to guess on the answer. If you want an accurate test of how well you'll do, make sure you time yourself. I scored a 19 on this and that was with lots of luck b/c I guessed A LOT.

Yeah, it's the time. You have like 20-30 seconds for each problem and no calculator. If I had like 2 minutes per problem I could get 100%, but all you can think about the whole time you're trying to solve it is "I'm taking too much time, I'm taking too much time"

I thought it was easy but I can do that type of math ridiculously fast in my head and on paper if I need to. On the opposite side of the spectrum I suck at english and history 🙂.

800 on the SAT 1 and a 28 on the QR, finished with about 20 minutes left and clicked submit. You sound very confident. I majored in math - if you are too, you may also find it to be a piece of cake.

By the way, 2 questions wrong could bring you down to a 25 or 26 depending on the scaling. So when someone gets a 20 it could be only 5-7 questions wrong.

Hey it's not fair man. You are the math wiz of the DAT forum. Of course you are gonna think it's easy.

Your DAT score is downright scary :scared:
