Out of all the major tests we have taken or will take, is the MCAT the hardest one? Is it the most important test we will take? If not, what do YOU think is?

i think its funny how every next big test you take is more important than the last. for example, SAT--MCAT--USMLE/COMLEX.

If you start thinking about how the next test you're going to have to take is even harder than the one you're preparing for now, you'll end up psychotic. Just gotta take it one step at a time.

The MCAT is an easy test, no matter how you look at it. At least the subject matter is easy.

There aren't many hard questions on the MCAT. Just easy questions disguised as hard questions.

Very true, but their disguise fooled me many times, and all of us, too unless we get like a 45 =D

i think everything peaks at Step I (and I agree with texastriathlete that the MCAT is pretty much an easy test in that the questions would be really easy if they were explicit, but that they're crafted in such a way as to make them much more difficult than they would otherwise be). from what I understand, clinical boards (Step II and beyond) are technically more intense but require much less studying or anxiety because the material tested is what you've been doing for the last few years. so a little quick review is all you need to do reasonably well.

The hardest thing about the MCAT for me was the length. By the time biological sciences rolled around, I felt like I had run a marathon. I couldn't stay focused and I was really not thinking very clearly. I'm wondering if nutrition, hydration, and sleep may have affected me there.

Now, imagine if it was 1.5x as long. And you had to do it with a pencil...

Man, am I happy I took it this year...

USMLE is defnintely harder than the mcat. Has anyone tried taking a practice USMLE? Yeah, it's hard.

Middle school is the roughest education you'll ever have to deal with.

Then you go to high school. Man nothing is harder than this. Doesn't get any worse than APs.

Then you go to college. HOLY **** ORGANIC CHEMISTRY EXAMS!! IT WON'T GET ANY WORSE.

amazing post...really. its not mandatory reading. if its stupid, then go ahead and hit the back button and move along rather than bumping the thread to the top.

This is a forum, isn't it? I can express my opinion and obviously there are others who feel the same way.

You're taking practice USMLE's as a pre-med and you come here to let us know it's hard? What, did you think it would be easy when you haven't even seen the material yet?

I'm a believer. . . Even if there could possibly be a more difficult test (which, unfortunately, there probably is), I really, really would rather not think about it

Nobody in this thread has ever taken the USMLE, yet everybody is saying its harder than the MCAT.

I'd ask some 3rd years for a real answer, not a bunch of premed know-it-alls.

BTW don't get so offended. I wasn't attacking you in any personal way. I just think it's a stupid question. =P

From what I hear around in this forum, the USMLE STEP 1 is the hardest.
