I'm currently watching through the DIT series and I was wondering whether anyone thought the work packet they provide is a waste of time. Personally I like to read along w/ a text and I find it hard using both the packet and First Aid

Why is most of SDN against DIT? I think they do a pretty good job at helping you remember most of the dry facts using a few logical tie ins ya?

Because SDN generally believes that DIT almost just reads First Aid for you - it might be faster to just go through first aid yourself

To answer OPs question - there are some useful things for the neuroanatomy. Also, DIT highlights the necessary things in biochem

I think a lot of people on here have the dedication and drive to push through something as dry as FA on their own which is why they don't like DIT.

Other's kind of go into auto-pilot while reading FA and don't really absorb the info properly or just downright can't get through it on their own without wanting to bang their head against the table so they feel that DIT helps push them through.

i know this is an old thread but i could use some advice... I just purchased DIT got through about 8 lectures.. its pretty good but being 6 weeks away its time consuming considering that I do have 50 % uworld also to do! (The other 50 % I need to go over as I did it months back) what do you guys think? Ditch dit and do my own thing or trust the process?

I'm about 130 lectures in right now, and have been using both sources with lectures.

As for DIT being a regurgitation of First Aid, that may have been the case in previous years, but this years lectures definitely have a significant about of information to add to First Aid.

I also believe there is a benefit to receiving the information in multiple formats. That's my 2 cents at least.

I really think it depends on how you are using DIT. For me, I wanted to do a complete pass that was cursory in some areas but targeted/focused in others. I knew concentrating my efforts on UWorld would be most useful so I quit doing DIT. I got 63 videos in before doing so and I don't regret the decision. With Step1 only 5 and a half weeks away, I just can't afford to spend time with the videos when doing questions (which takes loads of time in its own right) has been more useful for me historically.

I don't disagree with you at all. The videos are taking a lot of time. There's a reason I started them 3+ months out from my exam. I wanted to leave my last 6 weeks for qbank and FA passes.

Totally agree. Although I don't know whether the study guide is high yield. They have random crap in there esp in behavorial plus I noticed they DON'T thoroughly go through review books. Dr Jenkins and the ID lady is good but the others don't really do explaining and read errata! I'm about 53 lectures in and I'm going to quit it. So dissapointing as I thought it was a good pass through irst aid but it really isn't they skip so much detail that are high yield so I'm constantly pausing to read it. I wasted 5 days now I'm 5 weeks out! what do you guys think I should do?

yea. i'm conflicted as to whether i spent my time effectively watching DIT. i'm a month out and tempted to do a watch through again before my actual exam just to reinforce material i've already heard. but 80% really is just them reading it. they are great when they make tie ins or NOT read errata. i'd watch the kaplan vids since they're more like pathoma but i've always found them to be lower yield and of course less based around FA

I like the quizzes and I have retained enough but these are my options
being aboyt 5 weeks away should I read irst aid on my own (just weak topics the topics I have to reread ANYWAYS while doing the course.. so that the videos would go quicker) then complete uworld (I have about 50% to go) then restart the course ? Or just stick it out and then do uworld later?😕
Or just do the videos to my weaker subjects (like biostat and biochem)
