i have been thinking about college lately and i am worried about where i would get in...Ive been diagnosed with leukemia about almost 2 years ago when i was a frshman but now im in maitenance(just checkups).. i have been working real hard but is it too late?
my stats.
junior year: physics
psychology
world history
pre-calc
AP BIO
English 3 honors
3.78 academic weighted gpa...currently 4.0 in this semester
1830 on SAT (one sitting)..another try in march
100 hours of volunteering at hospital being treated as
3 years of Varsity tennis

will me having leukemia give me an advantage in admissions to schools like UC Berkeley UCLA and UOP(7 year dental program)?

will me having leukemia have any effect on my admissions and what UC"S do u think i cud get into? like..UC berkeley or UCLA

hey! i don't think your leukemia will have any effect on your admission. You have the rigt to have an equal chance of admission, just like everyone else. Your GPA and extracurriculars look good!

hee! you're a tennis fan 😍 did you happen to see the australian open?

back to topic, i think everything looks good except maybe your course selection (if those are your senior yr course, i don't think they're "difficult" enough for those high tier colleges)--- this is just my opinion. And your SAT score is okay, but not amazing. Make sure you mention your leukemia in your personal statement, just to let the admission office know that you are trying hard.

Good luck with everything! 🙂

EDIT: to answer your question, yes, you do have a chance. i think you are a strong applicant because of what you've been going through, and your school activities and gpa definitely show your strong determination for college and most importantly, your perserverance.

most def watching tennis =) ...kinda of a shame between the fans tday......and also thanks for the opinion...those classes are for this year...

hahaha i was watching safin vs federer. i'm a huge safin fan so to see him lose straight streaks was soo painful...especially when i'm up at 3AM. i'm so sad he's not coming back next yr....i was *hoping* he would do some of his ridiculous angry tantrums & call random faults 😀

back to your original post, i *saw* english 3 and i automatically assume something else; i forgot that different school systems have a different course catalog. but yeah, about your senior courses, your AP and honor course will definitely help you. make sure your second semester grade is good! (although second semester has just ended..)

oh and review review review for the SAT... your future killer SAT score will definitely help impress the admission board 🙂

I have a suggestion that might help a little: try taking the ACT as well. I scored relatively well on the SAT, then a month later I absolutely dominated the ACT (no extra classes or anything). It seems, from my limited experience, that people tend to do slightly better on one or the other. I happened to get lucky and really did well on the ACT.
Regardless, best of luck in your applications!

Whether you success or fail, give a shot to UC Berkeley and UCLA. You might get into both of them. :luck:

so does anyone think i have a chance?

you have a fairly decent chance, given that your essay and REC's are good. Your Ec's are not too stellar. However i will say if you can break 2000 on your next SAT retake, it will more likely secure your chance of getting in to the schools respectively, i have no idea about the 7 year program(s)
