Kind of a dumb question, but I'm just wondering if I'm reading about how to prep for a shelf exam, does the advice apply to both DO and MD rotations/exams? Thank you!

If you took usmle and comlex, it is the same situation.

Damn, does that mean there are OMM questions on the shelf exam?

I use the NBME CMS subject tests to prep for COMATS and it seems to be working. The COMATS are horribly written exams that are ridiculously easy in my humble opinion. Most of my classmates seem to exceedingly well with minimal effort as compared to the NBME shelfs. If you score well on the subject NBME's youre set up nicely for the COMATs.

I just started doing CMS questions (for surgery) and I'm finding them to be challenging. In fact, I think they are more challenging than UW questions. What % is considered a good performance on these blocks?

I found the NBME CMS's to be pretty predictive of my NBME shelf scores the few times I used them. Can't remember a specific percentage, but they should give you an estimated score once you finish.

Depends on which one. I just took the Psych COMAT and there were cranial references in question stems, but no specific Q's. We take the OMM COMAT after our Family med 1 rotation. A couple of classmates have reported primarily viscerosomatic questions on their IM, EM, Etc. but nothing worse than what was on COMLEX

I shot for 80% or greater. But, I would screen shot my incorrects and look them up in up to date. Soit'ss more like Uworld experience than a testing experience. But 75% or > is headed in the right direction in my opinion.

Thank you for the response.

I did couple blocks of the surgery qs and were crushed on them (scored in the upper 60's). It's obvious to me that I have serious knowledge gaps, so I'm gonna hit pestana and Onlinemeded hard, and then return to the remaining qs and see how I do on them.

I thought the psych COMAT was ridiculously difficult. I don't know if it was difficult content wise but it was just so vague and weird. They asked lots of weird stuff, but I agree they are pretty crappy compared to the NBME shelf.

I continually struggled with psyche from the COMAT through COMLEX2 and USMLE2. I feel your pain. The Kaplan notes did help me after a disastrous showing in psyche on an NBME. I wish I would have continually gone over psyche every week until my test because I could have done that much better.
