I know that for the MD schools there's the MSAR book put out by AAMC that has all the important info about every school, but where can I find that same kind of information about DO schools(GPA, MCAT scores, grading policy, curriculum, etc.) or if there isnt such a thing then how do I go about finding all this information?

I prefer the Princeton Review's "Complete Book of Medical Schools." It has the same information as the MSAR for MD schools, but also has that same information including stats for DO schools. In addition, it has some helpful information for premeds on every aspect of the application process.

There is an even more in depth analysis if you suscribe to US News because you get all the information on medical schools, MD and DO. They not only give you stats, they give you the % of graduates that get into their top choice of residency. They also have statistics on the number of people each school interviews, and the number that are accepted from those who interview. This information is almost for every school, and it only costs $10 for the online edition.

I second that.

AACOM publishes an information booklet with info on all DO schools. It probably has most of the stuff you're looking for. You can download it for free too.

For raw data I also like USNews. At the end of their annual school rankings issue there's a section on all schools with very relevant stats that you don't find on the AACOM's booklet. The only drawback is that the info comes from a voluntary survey, so not all schools return the survey.

I currently have this and the MSAR as my "bibles" of applying to medical schools. I think that the review does a pretty good job of consolidating the information all together. I do hope in further revisions that they give two pages to each osteopathic school like the alleopathic and canadian counterparts. One page just gives you a paragraph or two and the vital stats for the school. Pretty much what you get off of the AACOM site.

Funny incident, When I went in summer to meet with an admissions dean from my state school he asked if I had the MSAR. I said I had that and the princeton review book. He went off about how they use data solicited by email that they send to every dean. He suggested that I use the MSAR for the most current "information" and kinda blew off the princeton book. I just kinda laughed but it brought up a point that the MSAR is "official" and princeton is not.

Having said that I found the information to be pretty much the same with maybe a few differences between the two. I particularly liked the beginninng of the princeton book as it gave a "straight scoop" of the process and great interview type questions. Now, I have had a few interviews and never got asked ANY of the questions that the book went through but I feel that it helped cause I answered everyone of those questions for myself before the interview season. Just assited me in being more confident in my interview responses. I second the recommendation.

Man...I just realized I used a lot of quote marks in my last post......

I guess I'm "that guy" today.
