I know many people who got into pharmacy school, and they retook some science courses and did well.
When they applied to pharmacy school, the grades at community college REPLACED their old grades

For med school application, do they replace old grades with new grades if you re-took the classes that you messed up?
And would med school be happy with your newer grades at community college....?

For the MD application service, AMCAS, no. Retakes do not replace grades.
For the DO application service, AACOMAS, yes. Retakes replace.

Texas has an even more forgiving system (long term) where, I believe, they don't hold things 10yrs or older against you.

Haha I actually just replied to your last thread but I believe you had just under a 3.7 in both science and overall GPAs. Unless you have a D or an F in a class, with a 3.7 I wouldn't retake any classes. Just make sure to do well on the MCAT.
To answer your question, MD schools do not do grade replacement. DO schools do however. With an MD school your grades are averaged and with DO school the old grade is fully replaced with the new one.

LOL hi again. I did re-take one class and that was included in my GPA I posted in the other post (I just assumed that retakes replace before making that post.. I was a predent and for dental school application, they replace your old grades with retakes EXCEPT in Texas..Texas dental school averages out your old grades and new grades haha ironically ) How forgiving is the grading policy for Texas med school then? They accept retakes then?

Edit: If I just avg that retake with my old grade, then my cGPA is down to 3.65 from 3.7

3.65 is fine... work on getting a strong MCAT and move forward from there!

lol hello…I'm pretty sure its just like AMCAS where if you retake they are averaged. But I wouldn't worry about it… a 3.65 is competitive especially with a pretty lookin MCAT sitting next to it. Ive had a few interviews with a 3.5 so if you apply early with a good MCAT you'll have multiple interviews… don't sweat it.
