I just received a call from Lecom Bradenton for an interview in two weeks!

I just interviewed @ PBA last week and really was not expecting any other call soon. I think the beautiful Spiriva Sunrise brought good luck charms 🙂

However, with multiple possible acceptances come the need to start making decisions. Who would have thought that I may very well be in the same position as CANTW8. PBA and NOVA are both close to home with the latter being cheaper. Yet, their 'sorry' staff won't even answer call or email. NSU would easily be my first choice (don't have to relocate). I'm suddenly feeling scared about leaving home to move to Tampa.

I mean WOW. I'M SCARED LIKE MAD. DO I really deserve this? Am I smart enough? Will I really be accepted? I am freaking out and I'm neglecting physics 2 test in two days and I'm way behind. I'M SO SCARED. (Physics 2 is needed by UF and I don't want to jeopardize a possible interview there either). :scared:

P.S. Amazing, NSU mailbox is full. I could not leave a message for them.

I understand how you feel.

I have a friend who is applying to PT school and she always told me how she wanted to be more independant. She wanted to go out of state. When interviews came along she changed her mind and it shocked me as I always thought she was the free-free-I-wanna-get-away form home type 😀.

Anyhow congrats! 😉

i got 3 interviews(PBA,Albany,LECOM Bradenton) so far in 2 weeks. Pharmcas sent my application to all the schools on jan 18th..i am so excited and nervous at the same time that i am so close to get into pharmacy school... and can't study anymore for my microbiology test.....

Hey congrats!!! LOL you're in the same position as Cantw8! Welcome to my world! lol Well I had an interview at PBA and got accepted, but it is way too expensive! I FINALLY decided to go to Lecom instead of Auburn. The reason why is because I am taking all these pre-req's right now for Auburn that aren't required for any other schools and it's hard for me to plan out going to pharmacy school when I have Biochem, Immunology, and Microbio to worry about. I REALLY liked Lecom when I went to the interview, and I think I'm not completely satisfying my bf by going there (I have an interview for Nova next week and that's where he really wants me to go!) So if you have any questions on Lecom, let me know, and hopefully I may meet you in the future. Good luck!

P.S. About the moving thing. I also liked Lecom because it's actually in the middle of nowhere (yet a nice middle of nowhere lol) It's a perfect place to stay focused and be close to all the other students. Plus it's a small school with only pharm and med students. So by the end of the 4 years you'll be knowing just about everybody. Nova is in the middle of chaos, there's always traffic, there's always people everywhere and it's hard to focus. Think about the best place for you to be focused. Just my 2 cents :luck:

Wow, I completely forgot about Auburn's extra prereqs. Sounds like you're making a good solid decision based on good information. I wish you the best.

CantW8 is absolutely right ... LECOM was my 2nd choice after Nova, but I highly doubt they'll accept me for personal reasons, so LECOM is a go go for me. I have guaranteed acceptance at PBA, and had my interview las week, but I'd only go here if I didn't get in anywhere else, specially after the crazy tuition rise. Anyhow, I hope it works out for you guys ( CantW8 ), and hopefully I'll see you next fall 🙂

They have 100 seats for this year. When I interviewed in Jan 22 they said they had already sent 50 acceptance letters, and so far 20 something ppl had sent deposits. We were about 12 interviewees, but I don't know how often they interview.

thank you!!!
congratulations on your acceptance as well!!!
did you have to do a group activity??

you're welcome! and yes, we had to do a group activity. And I guess you don't have to be right as long as you say something. I thought I had messed it up completely but it turned out ok I guess. There were 2 ppl I think who didn't say anything so be sure to say something. The article was short, clear, related to meds and interesting. It usually comes from a magazine so it's not like you have to have medical knowledge.

thanks!!

thanks!!

The whole interview day was from 9-2 PM ... Interviews started at 10AM, and I think group discussion at around 12 or so. It think it was about 30 min too, but it wasn't bad. I'll have a group discussion anytime over a quiz and an essay like in PBA. They also explain financial aid procedures and loans for Pharmacy student, and they also tell you about the living costs and show you prices of places where most students stay.

hey pharmgrl08 when is your interview for Lecom- Bradenton...they called me yesterday and gave me feb 14th date for the interview...

Hello everyone. I did not send my supplemental application to LECOM because i heard they did not accept transers unless you have a BS. Do all of you have a BS. and is it too late for me. I already have 3 interviews coming up(Temple, U of Pitt., and University at Buffalo). I don't want to get regected in all 3 schools and regrat not completeting my application for LECOM

I think you should submit your supplemental application to LECOM. I got accepted straight from a CC with 2-yrs pre-reqs and I don't have a BS. It never hurts to try.

i wonder what are our chances since they interview so many already. twice a week i heard??
see you there?

I also have an interview at LECOM, although it is scheduled for the 21st of February. It's going to be a drive though coming from Orlando.

I'm not sure if this question is for me. If it is, I'm from West Palm Beach. I wanted to fly to Sarasota-Bradenton airport, unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a direct flight there, which is shocking. One itinerary, got me changing flight in another state?????? Somewhere in Houston, Texas. I'm about three hours away from the place by car. I don't like driving long distances. I get sleepy too quick. Plus the interview day I'm sure will wear me out. In addition, according the interview letter, the airport is 20 mn away from LECOM.

i would say go to Uf if u have the chance bc u will never regret it, ask any pharmacist that went there. as for palm beach and nova well for nova ppl complain about staff, dress code and professors and palm beach has tuition and religion issues. I have heard great things about lecom but im not sure what the tuiton is there. i would say UF, lecom, then the rest as last resort. as for physics 2 u can take that in the summer without calculus and its pretty easy unless u take it with calculus but why would u do that lol.

Overall GPA: 3.75
Science GPA: 3.83
Accepted with PCAT 57 (English is my 2nd language, took PCAT when I had been in the US for 3 yrs).
2 yrs spent in CC.
4 mos. pharmacy experience but 2+ yrs customer service/data entry experience.
No volunteer/Extracuricular (worked full time 40hrs/week, and went to school full time average 14 credits/semester during 2 yrs at CC so no time to do anything else).
Applied early in June, got invited to LECOM-Bradenton's 1st interview in Nov., received acceptance call from the Dean 1 week later.

Hey NewRx
I think the interview went well. The faculty and admission staff were with us all the time making us relax. so it was less stressful compare to PBA interview. Now 4 long days of wait to hear those 3 words"you are accepted"....i can't sleep well at night..watching Entourage episodes all day long lol....

Wow, it actually takes less than a week to get acceptance/rejection envelope. Cool. PBA was surely stressful.

Why do you think the PBA was stressful? Just curious.

Why do you think the PBA was stressful? Just curious.

1) Before the quiz, one does not know what to expect. Fortunately, I've been in this situation many time before and once the quiz started, it was easy.

2) Faculty interview was not what I expected. For a Christian school, I was hoping that at least I'd have to answer some questions based on my personal statement, my volunteer work, how I actually made it this far with a lot of hard work. Instead, it was strictly grades that were questioned. For example: why lower course load one semester and not 15+ credit? My readiness about the program in terms of work? Why the W in one class (especially my PS mentioned why; a family member was dying). I was surprised by that because I explained all that in my essay. This tells me that faculty did not even read my essay. I would expect more from a Christian school, but oh well.

Summary: yes, I expect tough questions. But at least show me you read my motivations for the field of Pharmacy. Student interview went well. Faculty interview went well too, except, the excitement was subdued by the almost indifferent poise of the faculty. I have a modest 3.28 GPA, 3.3+ science; 61 PCAT (damn verbal messed me up: mid 50s). I expected to do well in the 90th%ile verbal, but I was wrong. I 'm on hold pending new PCAT score (I'm totally fine with that since there was no outright rejection + I have other inverviews); however, I know people who got in with lower stats.

Thankfully, I have LECOM interview next week. I also think my New PCAT score will be much higher; a bit pessimimistic about the bio this time around though. UF sent me an email that my app will be revised in March.

P.S. Sent email to PBA faculty just saying thx, never got a reply. Also, during interview, I felt I had to display enthusiasm for Christianity (not really a problem but nonetheless). Also took PCAT when Fall semester of 22 credits was in full swing and a plethora of other things. But I accept my fate. I had 3.5 term gpa of mostly science courses.

Oh wow! Then I guess it was somehow though for you. I'm sorry. However, it was a whole different story for me and the PBA applicants who I know have interviewed so far. I have my fair share of Ws and Cs, although I do have As in most science courses from 2nd year to the present. I had to do some explaining, but the faculty interviewer seemed satisfied. He also asked me about if I go to church, about extra curriculars and volunteering. About the quiz, it is true you don't know what to expect, but I thought it was more of an annoyance than a worry, specially since we have to take the PCAT. Overall I didn't think the PBA interview was anymore difficult than my other interviews. Plus, you ALWAYS have to expect indifference and tough questions from your interviewers and be ready to respond accordingly, not that I agree or like that at all, but remember they get a lot of applicants and they just don't care too much ( which again, shouldn't be the case ). I wish you the best at LECOM, hopefully everything will go great for you and you'll get accepted.
