I plan to write about my experiences as a Sunday School Teacher. Would this be a good or bad idea as a topic for my PS? Any Advice would be appreciated

thank you!

It depends on what you got out of it, if you got out of it a desire to help kids, sure, it's a good topic, but you need to tie in how that desire made you want to become a dentist.

Make sure you read some nice well-written school entrance essays...I don't mean that you should copy their words directly...I think it's a good idea because you wil get a sense of how you should start/end your essay, and how you should develop your ideas. You can also learn different styles of writing. Go to a libray and they usually have a collection of award-winning essays or something. Just make sure you don't commit plaigirism.

The friend of mine who got accepted last year also wrote about his volunteer experiences.

Good luck

University of Pittsburgh c/o 2013! I find it hilarious that since my initials are MD, if I went Oral Surgery my initials would be DMDMDMD.

Do you realize that it wouldn't actually be your initials?

Remember that what you're writing about is helping you to get into dental school, so be sure to show (not simply tell), good qualities that you have that would be good in dentistry in some way. There are a lot of things we can list to help you write, but it would help if you went to a seminar that teaches you about personal statements, that would be very helpful to anyone writing one.

I know what a personal statement is, but what question should it actually be answering? Also, where can I find examples of old personal statements?
