I'm stumped with a clinical case; I think its Chronic Bronchitis. What do you think?

Case: 50yr old patient, smoker (40 pack-years). Humid cough in the mornings. The following is a biopsy of one of his bronchi.

Chronic bronchitis is a clinical diagnosis--you haven't given us enough information to make that determination

Indeed, but that's all the info I got as well. The question is "What pathology is this slide most suggestive of."

say it looks like acute inflammation and ask them what the indications for biopsy were
