I'm an approaching senior in high school, and I've been wondering how well I would perform on the PCAT. So, I decided to overwhelm myself and take a practice test. I want to know if my scores are completely horrible to only be 17 and in high school.

Classes I've taken:
- AP Chem (passed the AP exam and skipping gen. chem I)
- AP Bio
- AP English

- I will take AP Calc this year, so that's why my quantitative score is lower.

Scores:

Verbal: 424
Reading comp: 387
Biology: 400
Quant. ability: 365
Chemistry: 415
Overall Score: 398

What do you guys think? 😕:xf:

By the way, this is with no undergraduate experience besides AP classes, so of course, I will improve while in college!

Either I'm having a brain fart or those scores are out of context. Where are those numbers coming from? SAT? ACT? Certainly not PCAT scores.

By the way, I know it would save you money by skipping the class since you technically tested out of it but if you can pass the AP exam then you can make an A in that subject. No reason to skip out on it and not help your GPA. Just my opinion.

I think your overall scores range in 30%~ 40% depends on the applicant pool that takes the test. You are still in high school, so don't worry too much just yet 🙂

I found this on the Kaplan website!

"The PCAT is scored on a scale ranging from 200 to 600, with the mean usually falling between 340 and 460 and the standard deviation approximately 30 points. Your score will be given in the form of a percentile based on the strength of the applicant pool. For example, if your percentile score is 60, this means that you scored higher than 60 percent of the other test takers."

So, I'm thinking I'm around the 50 percentile!

You are clearly a smart and driven person. i would say that you should worry less about how high you can get on the PCAT and more on how much you really want to do Pharmacy. If you have a brain and can study decently well, then you will get high enough scores to get into pharm school. I recommend you spend your free time looking at gaining insight into the field through shadowing/volunteering/working.

As I always state, I refuse to believe anyone who is in high school or just graduated really knows what they want to do with their life. Yes I am sure you have an idea of your goals, but rarely do those ideas have true experience to back them up and make them rational. Clearly if you have parent(s) that are pharmacist then you know whats up, but most do not. Thus they cannot perceive what a pharmacist really does without spending some time in the field..and no it is not counting pills/signing your name.

Pharmacy is not some exciting field, and you can help people in pretty much any field if you apply yourself. If you look around the site there is plenty of information to help you understand the state of the field and where it appears to be going.

Also....enjoy being a kid...quit spending your time taking pointless tests. One day you will long for those days when you could sit around and not do crap, without someone riding your a**.
