I recently got in touch with a neurologist who's willing to let me shadow her but also assist her lab in research. So basically I'll help them in their research but also will be able to shadow her when help isn't needed in the lab. The research study has a lot of patient care interaction so I assume that should be clinical volunteering, but is that the same as "volunteering" in general? And after shadowing her/helping them out in the research study, am I supposed to obtain an official letter stating from them the hours I volunteered my time for? Thanks!

If you end up watching surgeries, its shadowing; the research study may qualify as clinical research.
