I saw a hand written ICD9: voyeurism. For real?! 😱 Or could it be someone at the MDO being bored? I mean, I guess it's possible...

From the DSM-5: To be diagnosed with a paraphilic disorder, DSM-5 requires that people with these interests-
• feel personal distress about their interest, not merely distress resulting from society’s disapproval; OR
• have a sexual desire or behavior that involves another person’s psychological distress, injury, or death, or a desire for sexual behaviors involving unwilling persons or persons unable to give legal consent.

The chapter on paraphilic disorders includes eight conditions: exhibitionistic disorder, fetishistic disorder, frotteuristic disorder, pedophilic disorder, sexual masochism disorder, sexual sadism disorder, transvestic disorder, and voyeuristic disorder.

It sounds like it could be a serious crime...

I was actually both shocked and curious. It's much different than the usual diagnosis: HTN, DM I/II, Depression, GERD, etc... then BAM! Voyeurism... 😱
Your post was very enlightening. I guess I won't be so shocked next time I run across something like that. Thank you! 🙂
