Is this LOR writer ignoring my e-mails? Should I try to contact her other ways?

Ok so I am a reapplicant. I didn't use interfolio last year, so I had to ask the 3 profs who wrote me letters last year to resubmitt. 1 agreed, another agreed (but only if I did better on the MCAT), and the other just hasn't returned any of my emails😕. I have emailed her 4 times over the last month, at two seperate e-mail addresses. One being g-mail, and another her school e-mail. Is it possible she didn't get them or, just doesn't want to reply? We were on very good terms. I can't visit her office, we are 400 miles away at this point and I can't find a number for her at the new university she works at. The waiting and ambiguity is killing me. I don't want to send her an email saying she should've had the courage to reject me, only to find out my messages went to her spam folder. Should I be more aggressive at this point, or wait it out??? I really need this letter, Im very limited on the number of profs I can ask.

She may be ignoring you or she may not have gotten your emails. If she is at a new institution, I would recommend contacting someone at her original institution, your undergrad, like a fellow professor in the bio department or w/e that worked with her and seemed to be "friends" and see if they have her new email at her new institution.

I have her e-mail for the new institution, I don't have an office or department number for her there.

1.Google the phone number for the department she works at. Call the number.
2. Ask the secretary to leave a message for her or ask if you can speak to her directly.
3. ????
4. Profit

From my experience they're either on vacation, too busy to respond, or ignoring your emails.

I would call the department he or she is involved in. did you try looking it up on google or school directory? And are you using school email? (If not, it could be going to Spam..). Maybe keep contacting her on a weekly basis until she responds? But on the safe side, email a few more professors you've had to see if they could write you one....just in case.

And this happened to me. I kept emailing the professor because it was past the deadline I had given him. Turns out that he was just busy but he wrote it after I dropped off chocolate for him...

She probably wants you to pay up front.

sorry OP, but to me it looks like she is ignoring you.

try to find her number and call
email is a tricky thing, especially when you're dealing with something this important

I hate how we live in an age where people stubbornly avoid using the phone. CALL HER!!! That is honestly the quickest and most accurate way of ascertaining exactly what is happening. No more guess games, come on man. If youre this worried then you should have called her already. Im assuming since she wrote you the LOR you are on good terms with her in the first place. Are you thinking a phone call might be too much? Because its not. At this point youve delayed yourself by a whole month by just not calling.

OP has already stated that he does not have a phone number to call the professor.

Sent from my X10i using SDN Mobile

Even if he doesn't have her number, he could do a quick search of the school's website. I mean, if you want to check for my phone number, you go to my school's homepage and search my name. My phone number, email address and if I am a current student shows up. Same thing happens for staff. You could always do that.

Adjunct falculty, so she isn't listed. But I did call her department today, so we'll see what happens. I undestand that she could be on vacation, but there is no way she hasn't checked at least one of her two emails in the past month.

that is really really sucks.....

my professor was on vacation and she still checked on a daily basis. I replied with a thank you for checking your email and responding to her research students during her vacation time since she was writing my LOR and she said that its what professors should do for their students. Yeah..i was extremely lucky with her.

For another one who didn't respond, I left a message with his secretary and contacted another member of the facility/department.... If this person is your only option, be very active! One my friends waited for a professor and he never wrote it...it left him scrambling for one towards the end of July...

Now I certain she is. This f'ed up situation leaves me looking for another letter, befoer I complete secondaries. I have about 2 months to get one, and I don't have that many options. I should have collected all the letters in interfolio last year, that way I could have used them this year If I wanted to right?

Sounds like it to me, but what happened that made you certain?
