Here is an internship description:
An internship with the Rusk County Public Health Department would be a great opportunity for a student who is looking to gain experience and knowledge in the field of Public Health/Community Health in a rural setting. The intern would be working under the general direction of a Public Health Nurse on community health education projects, along with the programs that are established at the department. The programs that the intern could work
with include; the Reproductive Health/Family Planning program; Women, Infants, and Children (WIC); Prenatal Care Coordination (PNCC); Environmental Health; and the Immunization program. Opportunities will be available for the intern to work on planning, implementing, and evaluating community health programs. Some projects that
are available for an intern at the department include; development of health education materials, presenting health information to community members/staff members, research of current/up-to-date health information, evaluation of
current public health programs, and much more.
Is something like this a good idea for a premed student?
