Here's a long story short.

I am a reapplicant who applied extremely late last year.

I got everything ready for this year well ahead of time, wanted to press submit on the first day possiblle, June 4th. Transcripts ended up getting lost. So I resent via UPS expedited delivery. AMCAS said that the earliest my transcsripts can be marked as recieved will be June 13th-June14th. If I hit submit then, I won't be verified till about mid July accoridng to AMCAS.

Hence, I am a bit flustered with this situation which is out of my control. I was wondering if submitting June 13th and being verified by mid-July is still considered early. Also, how big is the difference between submitting June 4th and June 13th?

Thanks in advance.

Well, amcas will begin sending applications to schools on June 28 so you might be verified a few days after that. I don't think it matters too much though.

There is no difference. AMCAS is not even released to schools until the very end of June, and you'll most likely be verified by then.

Calm down.

Don't worry about it you'll be fine.

Edit: My 100th post! I guess that makes me a "Senior Member" now. lol

I hear your chances decrease by a full 1% for every day past June 1st that you wait. 🙁

I'm kidding, you're fine..

Hit submit on the first day and you enter the waiting period. Since they won't have your grades yet, you don't get verified right away but you stay at the front of the line. They will add your grades to your file and you will get verified soon after.

You will probably be sent to schools in the first batch of applications.

Do you think think this would allow me to be verified faster than if I wait for my transcripts to be attached to my AMCAS and then press submit?

Judging by last year's thread, those who submitted in mid june were not verified until earliy-mid July.

I am calm but can't help being a bit ticked off at the idea of a delay due to some uncontrollable cause. After being rejected last year, with a number of medical schools saying I had submitted way too late (in addition to some statistical and EC critique), I was planning to submit as early as possible. So I am just trying to gauge an idea about what is early.

I don't think this is true. I had the same problem with my transcripts and they don't put you in any sort of line. The date they receive your transcript is the day you would be considered "submitted", meaning that you enter the verification queue, at the back of the line, like any other person.

Early-mid July is still extremely early. You will be fine. "Late" usually means September/October and later, but it depends on the school and when they start/finish giving out interviews.

Weird, what I said happened to a friend.

Maybe he was a fluke and what happened to you really happens.

Correct, according to the intstructions manual your status changes to "Submitted - Waiting for Transcripts" and doesn't go in line with "Submitted- Waiting for processing" until all transcripts are received.

how did you find out they got lost?

anyone know how long it is until they mark the transcripts as received? I sent part of my transcripts last week but still nothing.

Not sure this means anything though as pertains to the line.

Honestly, we should all (As people on SDN) stop making assumptions that we do not know for certain. And I do not mean to criticize, I've done this myself, but we need to make sure we know.

If all you are waiting for is transcripts to be received, I'd go ahead and submit on the first day. Then it's out of your control and you just wait. No worrying about waiting until you hear that they got your transcripts, and then hitting submit... it'd just happen automatically. And if they get the transcripts before June 13th... bonus.

And as long as you submit in June, or July, you'd be considered early by most standards. You'll be fine.
