In my primary application, I stated that I anticipate to gain 300 hours in paid clinical experience from now through April 2025. However, I got a new job that has significantly more hours than what I expected. Overall, if I work from now until April, I would end up working around 650-700 hours instead of my anticipated 300.

Is it worth updating med schools about? If so, what would the best way to go about it be? Any help would be very much appreciated.

For context my current clinical hours stands at about 550 and I know med schools don't hold much regard to anticipated hours due to the lack of commitment. Looking at the current circumstances, it would really seem to bolster my application, but I'm unsure of how to approach this.

Thanks yall! 🙂

No.

Update them after you get the hours in.

Projected are are nearly worthless as an app builder.
Thank you! I figured as much but better safe than sorry these days.

When I do get the hours in (for the applications still under review) what’s the best way of going about updating schools? For example, would I have to provide proof of employment for x amount of time?

I suppose you can send an update but I'm not sure it would make a significant difference as it's an activity you already said you'd do on your primary. I'd just restrict updates for what is truly new (new publications, new activities, new awards, etc.)
