Yale New Haven is my dream institution. Yes, ahead of Harvard, Pennsylvania and any Cali program. Does anybody know what USMLE scores are required to get an interview? My step 2 is OK, 244/99, but my step one sucks hard core, 227/92. I have several pubs and very good grades, but overall I do not feel I am a very competitive candidate.
Anybody with experience in Yale?

Yale is definitely possible. Okay, so you're not happy with Step 1, so what, you just went up on step 2. That's in your favor. You're grades are good, if you're AOA that's another feather in your cap. On top of your good grades and scores you've got a bunch of pubs, even better! No doubt Yale is competitive, and if you're on the east coast your chances are probably a lot better, but you look pretty darn strong to me. If you're set on Yale, make sure you tell them why in the interview! Good luck! 🙂

Not a chance in hell.

How do you think we'll have the answers? Is the info correct, or maybe someone is just trying to make you feel better?

As for your abysmal step 1 score, I think it means you should quit medicine right now! Are you really so shallow that you think only numbers will count? You step one score is nothing to sneeze at.

Are you being sarcastic? Or not? I really don't have a clue about what you mean. When I say I am not a very competitive candidate, I mean it. I am not AOA. I don't come from a top school. I do interview well. My pubs some I am first or second author, others not.
And I am definitely not shallow, but I have come to realize that numbers are pretty much everything in this game. I was trying to see if someone had any insight into Yale.

I am applying for sure. Let's see what happens. Good luck everyone.

Yes, Pili, I was being sarcastic. My point was that we have no way to tell you if you will be accepted or not. They only thing you can do is apply. Also, there are MANY people with step 1 scores much lower than yours who get into very good residency programs. It may be good enough for Yale, or it may not be; but, it certainly doesn't "suck hard."

Here's a D.O. who completed an IM residency at Yale. I'm sure it can be done. New Haven is a tough population for IM.
