What exactly are the ISEF and Siemens competitions? I know it's like science fair or something?

What grade can you enter your project in them? can you work with a professor or other people?


Anyone want to give me ideas of things I should attempt to "invent" for this or whatever else you have to do to go far in this competition? 😀 Thanks..

I don't even think I knew anything about pre-med related stuff during freshman year! I was too busy not caring lol.
 
That's what happens when you have other doctors in your family, and every time at a gathering or something, they say "Oh, you're going to be a great doctor! You have to come over and see my clinic. .." and then they tell me so much stuff about pre-med, med school, residency, etc...

but Ya, I'm determined, because my goal is 6/7 year med or atleast guaranteed med.. I'm scared of the MCAT, especially because they're making it harder. Then again, they're making the SAT harder before I take it...

that's great! I don't know if this is the case, but be careful you're not doing this because it's what's expected of you.. It'll probably end up making you miserable that you chose their happiness over yours.
 
No, I actually want to be a doctor. My backup is finance, but I'm not really into business/marketing, law, or engineering.. I'm really interested in sports med and psychiatry, and it makes bank, too.

Don't talk about how much it makes dude. Try to keep that the smallest motivation for you, because if money is your motivation, we bout to go corrupt.

I mean people always want jobs that make money.. It's not like my dream job is to be the janitor of my elementary school.
 
sure you want a job that makes money, but I think what he means is that should be your primary reason, as well as the fact half of the people on SDN will bash you and say you're not doing it for the right reasons. Sure it's a factor, but be weary posting that in the future..

lol so much for talking about ISEF/Siemens? When should I focus on preparing something for those competitions? Which grade and which month? Please tell me exactly so I don't get negative comments from others for starting too early.
