I need to label this picture... just type text on top of it to label the different quadrants.

Anybody know what program to use? I also have PCs available in the lab, but I'm pretty sure none of them have Photoshop on them.

How about putting the label using power point on your mac.

You can than export it as as a pdf (File >Print> Save PDF)

Yeah I would have suggested an Adobe product, though you can do this in Microsoft Office products like Word/Powerpoint/Excel/etc... Insert your image into one of those, then create a text box for each label you wish to make. You can then put text into each of these text boxes. You can select all your texts and image and right click (on PC) to "link" them together (I know this works in Powerpoint, for example). This means moving the image will move them all together for example.

If you then wish to export this to some other program, I would just take a screenshot and save that as an image. On PC I'm a big fan of this very simple program (http://www.download.com/ScreenShot/3000-2192_4-10423334.html?tag=mncol;lst&cdlPid=10423336) that does the job with minimal annoyance.

CK: Good point...

Then I could just open the .pdf and use the Caputure Utility to save it as a .jpg or .tff... or actually just use Capture right off the PowerPoint and skip .pdf all together.

Thanks 👍

Neuro: Is that like ctrl-alt-printscreen? That's basically the same thing that Mac's Capture Utility does.

FYI: you will lose resolution in image capture as it is only 72 dpi.

I've become a huge fan of GIMP (http://www.gimp.org/). Its almost as powerful as Photoshop, at least for my needs, and it's free to download!

The only thing I have not seen in GIMP is a CMYK modality/function. Just to label your image though, GIMP should work beautifully.

😎

Well, I got an e-mail from my PI today, and it looks like I will be repeating the experiment anyway.

I should have known better, but can anyone tell what is wrong from just looking at the picture above?
