Do people in competitive specialty get extra benefit in the military? The ISP for highly paid specialties in the civilian has ~36K (20K for primary care specialties). Also, Derm is one of the competitive one both in the military and in the civilian but has the same ISP with primary care specialties.
Another question: Does the military have Allergy/Immunology residency?
Thanks

Extra benefit? Other than slightly higher bonuses, no.
ISP is what it is. You go into that specialty, you get that ISP.
The military does have an Allergy/Immunology Fellowship.

ISP in an "Incentive Special Pay" designed to keep needed specialties in the military by adding a bonus to their base pay to get them to sign longer commitments that the ASP one year bonus. The pay amounts will fluctuate based on needs of the services to retain that specialty, but with a ceiling on max total pay.

Speaking of ISP...Any word on fiscal year 2011 ISP?😎 I actually got mine early last year....sometime in Nov.

Just read on the air force medical knowledge exchange site that the the FY11 pay plans and contracts have not been approved yet by the DOD. Shocker. They expect them to be approved by mid October. I'm expecting that come mid October the updated message will read "Still not approved. We are expecting them to be approved by early November."
