I am currently second semester sophomore in college. I want to start going on a pre-med track but with my double major to fulfill, if I were to start going on the track now I would have to spend the rest of my summers in summer school and take the MCAT's after or during my last summer in college. And there is a possibility that I might have to stay an extra semester.
My other option, of course, is to continue studying what i'm studying and Hope to get accepted to a prestigious Post-Bacc program and then apply to medical school.

I know, ultimately, it is up to me but I would love any input or advice. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi. Seems nobody has taken a stab at this yet, so I'll try.

Have you considered changing your double major to a single major that might have you taking your premeds within? If you took a "prestigious post bacc" program option as you wrote, that would take 1-2 years perhaps, so, I'm not sure that would be wiser than taking advantage of your time in undergrad. Also, what's wrong with taking classes over the summer time? You don't NEED to take the MCAT that last summer, after all, your other plan is to take a post bac. You can take 6 months off AFTER undergrad if you want to take the MCAT with proper preparation. That will still "cost" you less time than taking a post bac...

I would also focus on taking classes that you LIKE. Not that you need to solely for med school admissions. I don't think ad coms want robots, they want well-rounded students and people. So, enjoy your time as best you can. If you are in love with both of your double majors, ignore my advice above and stay the course, it is your love after all and I'm on the mindset that it will be in those classes, that you love, that you will excel the most.

Hope this helps a bit!

Good luck

As someone who is now going back to do pre-reqs after I already have a bachelors, I would say that I envy your position of still being in undergrad and knowing you want to pursue medicine. Do what you can to take the pre-reqs while in undergrad - I took classes during two out of three summers and graduated a semester early with my BSN - don't regret it at all, it's nice to be making money. And summer classes were not that bad. I had plenty of time off in between semesters, and the summer I did take off, I was incredibly bored. So I would try to get them done while you're still in undergrad, and, like the previous poster suggested, maybe you could do a single major only or a double major that incorporates some of the pre-reqs. That said, don't try to do too much and put your grades at risk. I'm just saying that I wouldn't wait if you have the opportunity.
