I matched into an advanced program and I'm currently doing my intern year at another program. Should I be taking this year's anesthesia ITE? My program says it's not a problem as it's not a requirement, but will it negatively affect me if I do not take it PGY1 year for say interviews for job placement, fellowships, etc?
Thanks

Had this very same question from one of our residents a while back. Answer is no. Fellowships will look at what you get on your CA-1 ITE. But I've never had a practice ask me about an applicant about their ITE performance other than in the context of if I thought they would get through the board certification process on the first try.

Given that there are less than 3 weeks until this year's ITE, there's probably not much in it for you if you take it. If you asked me a few months ago, I'd have told you that it might be worth taking it to see if what you might be reading is sticking. But if all you'd be doing is cramming for it, don't bother. Take it if you think the experience might help you on the test in the future in some way, but otherwise you'll be fine skipping it.
