Hello everyone
I am PGY 2 internal medicine
I did my ITE exam this year and I scored 61% correct answer but placed me on 16 percentile
How is that possible?
Last year I scored 62% correct answers and I was on 47 percentile

My colleges got less correct answers than mine but higher percentile

Can anyone please explain how the percentile system work in my case

Thank you

The percentiles are based on comparing you to *people of your PGY year* that specific test.

If the average intern gets 61% and the average PGY2 gets 67%, a 61% correct could be the 50th percentile for an intern and 16th percent for a PGY2 (just as examples).

In addition, the percentile:correct changes year to year.
