I was thinking of submitting the application at the end of the fall semester to wait for the fall semester grades. Do you guys think it would put be at a disadvantage to submit it let's say around mid december?

I am going to BEGIN my application on June 15. I have my one from last year (I'm a reapplicant), so updating it will be a breeze. I have my personal statement written and official transcripts for schools that I attended prior to now, too. And, I've already begun to get letters of recommendation. I'm not submitting it in June because I want my summer grades included in my GPA. So, I'll submit my application mid-August.

I think you would be doing yourself a huge disservice to postpone submitting your application until December. Many schools are on rolling admissions, and the less people with whom you have to compete, the better your chances of acceptance. Plus, PharmCAS' fall update isn't until January 2005. There will be a section on your application to list current classes and classes you plan to take in the spring. I'd submit it as soon as your summer classes are complete. If you aren't taking summer classes, I'd submit it this month.

And as long as you have PCAT send your scores to code 104 (make sure your SSN is correct!! 🙂 ), they will be sent to PharmCAS when available.

Send your application regardless of PCAT! That can always be updated (prior to January - it'll usually be updated around end of November/early December). There was someone on here (I can't remember who) who submitted an early application prior to taking the PCAT and was given an interview and was accepted before the school saw the scores (Roxy, was that you?). Anyway, I'd send it in as soon as you can. 🙂

Here is the page that lists the participating PharmCAS schools. The information on each school's link (from this page) contains updated information (pre-pharmacy requirements, deadlines, LOR info, etc) for 2005 applicants. Enjoy! 😀

For those of you who plan to submit a pharmcas application, it is a good idea to obtain a transcript from your college(s) now so you can have it ready to enter your grades on the application. If you have access to your unofficial grades per quarter/semester online, that is even better because you will not have to spend extra time to sort out which class you took when and in which semester.

Also, it would not be a bad idea to check out your credit report now. The 3 most reliable credit report companies are Equifax (www.equifax.com), TransUnion (www.transunion.com), and Experian (www.experian.com). You might be surprised of what you may find out in your report. Before I ordered my report, I thought I would have clean, flawless records. It turned out that someone had used my info to obtain credits that resulted in 2 bankcrupcies of over $3000 I had to file fraud reports to have them removed. Boy, I was so glad that I took the precaution to check out my credit history while in the application process. Otherwise, I would be in deep trouble now that I need to rely on my good credit to take out some private loans. 😀

yeah, for a small fee. If you want to get credit scores from all 3 companies combined, it costs about $30. For each company's report, it costs about $9.99.

If you have a citibank credit card, you can sign up for their credit monitoring service for $9.95/month. It's awesome! You get all three credit reports, including credit scores from each company, and they'll alert you about any activity on your credit report (like any new inquiries, new accounts, etc.) so you can prevent credit fraud early.

for most people, federal loans are not enough to cover tuition, expenses, room/board, etc. Therefore, having good credit will help you to get approved for private loans and with low interests (in some cases)

If you are referring to PharmCAS schools, no, you don't submit your application each time. You only submit it once. PharmCAS will send it off when each school begins to accept them.

I don't think it shows on pharmcas the dates when schools start accepting applications, only the dates when they stop accepting.

No, you don't have to fill out a separate pharmcas application for each school you apply to. HOWEVER, you will still need to fill out a supplemental application for most schools. Personally, I don't see how pharmcas has helped to reduce the stress and work in the application process. If anything, we have to pay double (almost) because we have to submit a fee for pharmcas to process the paperwork, and pay additional money for the supplemental application of each school

It doesn't help that my research job this summer has me sitting in front of the computer for serveral hours a day... I'm going to have an ulcer before this whole applying to pharmacy school thing is over...
