It's Dec. 1st!

Looking back on past threads for interview invites...they start calling in mid-December. The majority seem to come in early/mid-January though. :xf:

Maybe some of the other "older" folks can chime in...did they move the deadline earlier? I swear when I applied in 1999 (omg, that long ago?!) the deadline was January 1st. My profs all waited until after finals to start their letters. I know this for a fact, because I was at my grandmother's house for Christmas when I was having my freakout. I wonder why they moved it? Jan 1st seems to make more sense based on when profs have time to write letters.

Best of luck to all applicants!

That, and the fact that the vast majority of schools won't even look at it until after winter break anyways.

I agree with both of you that Jan. 1st makes more sense, but it's true that most deadlines nowadays are Dec. 1st or 15th.

I looked at one of my apps and it now says under review. :scared: Whats weird, though, is this school's app isn't due until the 3rd. 😕

Could "under review" be simply another way of saying, "We got all your stuff"?

Good luck mewtoo, routing for you! :luck:

Perhaps. Its still pretty scary, though. Its finally here, so its starting to hit me. The trajectory of my life is in their hands...

Thank you! 🙂 By the way, I love your new picture.

when do you think we might start hearing about interviews?

I applied last year. I got my first interview invite in mid-December and my last interview invite in mid-February (but by then I had been accepted to a better match, so I declined). As someone else said, I heard back from most places in early-mid January.

I was told that schools are trying to move things up to get first crack at desirable applicants, both to get them to show up to interview day (since many schools interview on the same weekend) and to get them to attend (since it's easy to start imagining yourself at a school that already accepted you). So if one school moves their dates forward, it's in the interest of the other schools to follow suit.
