Its January 2016 and I don"t have an acceptance!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
+pity+All of my interviews (so far) are in January or later so it looks like I can be expecting news in February at the earliest. But when we do get in victory will be that much sweeter!
We will get this!! Awesome about your invites!!!

Still waiting on a school that gets back in late March.

I'll join in the fun...went on one interview and still waiting on a result, rejected from my first of the cycle today pre-II (also my top choice). No word yet from the rest of the schools. Let's drum up some good luck!

One interview so far for me. That was way back in October, and I haven't heard back from the school yet. I still haven't heard from like 15 schools yet (despite being complete in early to mid august)

Huh. Is it normal to not hear from schools post-interview for that long?

Depends on the school. Some schools release all their decisions in the spring. Other release in 2 or 3 waves throughout the year (generally october, december, feb/march, or somewhere around those). Others release every other week or even more frequently. And others still may release randomly.

Its a new day! Hoping for some good news or any news or that matter.
2 II- completed
10 rejections
Waiting on 18
Good Luck everyone!!

I'll jump in. One II completed in Oct should hear back by the end of the month one way or another. 2nd II in a couple weeks and then next one is late March. 5 rejections so far if you count the 2 holds and still waiting to hear from 16 including my state school and my alma mater...

Wishing everybody in here (myself included) good luck in 2016!

I think @bananafish94 had invites after Turkey Day...so lets see!!!
This is true, but the survey posted a week or so ago regarding the interview by Thanksgiving question seemed to come to the conclusion that even if you do get an interview after Thanksgiving, it indicates that there is something fundamentally flawed with your application and thus it is not likely that you will receive an acceptance. Now, looking at last year's school-specific threads, it is apparent that plenty of people got in after receiving a winter/spring II...this is encouraging, although I don't know their overall interview status. What gives me some hope is that the schools I am interviewing at are really selective with who they interview (4.6%, 4.9%, 6.7%) and in order to have a reasonable yield they would have to accept a healthy amount of interviewees. But I guess we'll all have to wait and see!

Honestly I dont know how he could possibly have results for that survey. Alot of us have not even heard back after interviewing and are still waiting to interview. Not to mention the invites coming. I hope he can edit the results later in the cycle. Good luck BTW!

You know, I didn't even think of that. I just now looked at the survey and none of the questions asked which cycle it was referring to. If a sizable amount of people from this year (who are still applying) took that survey then I don't see how those results could have a whole lot of merit.

for people getting invited to interview January or later, how much more difficult is it to secure a seat this late in the admissions cycle compared to a few months back?

Considerably. They've already begun to build a class and we are going to be viewed in context of that - will we be bringing something new to the class, do we deserve one of the few seats left, etc. However, we have received interviews nonetheless, we have to at least try and we have to give it our all, that's all we can do at this point.

I said considerably, not impossible! I only have a single late January interview at this point. I do think I would have something to offer to a diverse medical school class, I think that many of us would. I wasn't saying we wouldn't stand up to that kind of scrutiny and I wasn't saying that to be a downer, leaving that question open ended in my mind was worse to me haha. I meant that as a "Yeah it's harder, we know that, we're realistic, but because it's harder we're going to work even harder, we can do this and we are going to do this" type thing.

I think your right at places like BU, GW,the Ivy's but maybe the lower tier not so much. Some stop giving invites in Feb..but some do go on even into April. This procees is frustrating!!

Good Luck on your Jan interview!!! I think you posted when I replied!! LOL!

1/4/16 II University of Iowa
1/5/16 II Stanford
1/5/16 II Penn State University
1/5/16 II University of Miami
1/5/16 II University of Minnesota
1/5/2016 Loyola Chicago (Stritch) University
1/4/16 II Tufts
1/5/26 II NYMC
1/4/16 II Rush
12/30/15 II Western Michigan (If this counts)

Historically Rosy Frank interviews like nobody's business in the spring, but it seems to have changed this year with the interview waitlist business.

Two interviews so far and just got a rejection at Penn State today. Waiting on a few more schools and hopefully I get a couple more invites. This process is driving me insane 🙁.

When were you complete at Penn State, if you don't mind me asking?

2 II in state done, one more II in state coming

If I don't get into med school it's all my fault haha

2 II, one I'll hear back in a month or so, one I'll hear back in March (why, school? why would you do this?)
19 rejections... 😱 but then again, I applied to a shiiiiit ton of schools
Silence from ~25 more schools

For a historically moving week, I've heard absolutely nada. I can't figure out if that's good or bad.

SAME. I've been following the "II in the new year" thread and two schools I've been waiting on have sent interviews this week and another I'm waiting on has sent rejections this week. It's setting my teeth on edge to have not heard anything. I mean it certainly beats getting rejections. But still! Every time I get an email I steel myself and take a deep breath...and then it's spam.

Rejection today at my STATE school...so upset. Pre II.

Yeah, a bunch of my silent schools are not so silent with other applicants, in both good and bad ways. But I kind of wish schools that will surely reject me would just go ahead and do it so I stop checking their school-specific thread.

Also, I just got an email from a school (not saying which because I'm paranoid) that told me that they're still reviewing my app. Not sure why that was necessary but uh, thanks?
