who cares if you care about those schools or not, we are doing our thing you do yours. I am not black, but I am going to a black school and I am proud of it. I think we study as hard as any white schools and we had a passing rate of 98%. I am sorry if this make some " prejudice Sad" but that is a truth. Another thing, if it wasn't because of cultural diversity, US wouldn't be the same us as it is now
I remember I had five classmates with way lower GPA than mine and I used to tutor them. They got into some dental schools becuase they were WHITe I din't get in becuase I was a minority...

D2B--and anyone else interested in stoking flames--if you've got some hard evidence suggesting anybody in this forum is racist, let's have it. Otherwise, singling people out for attacks is ridiculous. If you *insist* on carping about this sort of stuff, take it to PM and quit clogging the forum.

--Bill J., who'se had it about up to here with contrived, artifical attempts to create racial tension, on SDN or anywhere else.

What the hell are you talking about?!

My comment was simply that pre-dental students on SDN are NOT interested (generally speaking) in attending Meharry or Howard!

This is quite simply seen in two ways:

1) There have been NO threads in the last 3 years on either of these schools. Typically people start threads about schools they are interested in.

2) Check the "stats 2004", "stats 2003", and "stats 2002" threads to see how many students actually applied to these schools.

I'm not saying these schools aren't of interest to people--but rather that 99.9% of SDN users are NOT applying to these schools!

And you're right--I'm not interested in these schools because I'm already IN school! I'm really lost as to why this thread is addressed to me. My comment is simply that if you are trying to reach students interested in those schools, then SDN isn't the place! Maybe in next year's cycle, but not this one.

Gavin, I think you should double-check that statement. You'll find a thread for both Howard and Meharry in the Pre-dental forum. There is interest among SDN users.
 
Don't blame not getting into dental school on the color of your skin. That's pathetic. And if you truly believe that and haven't taken action against such outright racism, you are doing nothing to solve the problem. My guess is you just didn't have what it takes.

You are correct. Still, the statement that there is a general lack of interest in these schools can stand firmly by itself.

Those threads hardly constitue an "interest" in the general sense of the word. If you read those posts, you'll find the bulk of response is people posting heresay or "I don't know" regarding those schools.

The average # of responses concerning Meharry in posts posted in 2003, is 3. Three responses.

Let's not forget Maja's post on 3/16/03 in which she asks "Anybody know the pros/cons of Howard?" Apparently not, since she got ZERO replies. Doesn't sound like much interest to me.

Yeah, good ole days before members created threads that specifically attacked other members. That's what PMs are for.

Yah-E is still around, we spoke on the phone last night. He's just smart enough to keep his head out of ridiculous arguments. I, on the other hand, haven't quite learned my lesson yet.

Maybe you should talk Lee into it. Seriously.

I think all this application cycle is putting a lot of stress on everyone.......
