Coming down to the wire for the decision between these two schools and they're both about the same tuition-wise (I'm an Indiana Resident). Hit me up with some opinions on these two fine institutions.

Um... Indiana I would think if you are in state. The tuition is not the same. Indiana residents pay a little under 20K to go to IU. As an out of stater at VCU (like me) expect to pay 35-38K/year.

Well, that link doesn't work but it said that D-1 out of state for 2006-2007 (I wouldnt' think it changed much, but maybe it did) full time tuition was:

The problem with IU and Indianapolis is that their in Indiana. Not that indiana is that bad their is an awful lot of corn and very little elevation. I am an idiana resident.
And keep in mind, Purdue Pete would look down on you for having chosen to become a Hoosier. Sad 🙁
The nerdy/dorky side of me comes equipped with everything to work. I have the info I received from VCU on interview day. I'm surprised if you were interviewed and accepted that you didn't receive such a sheet, but anyway... Out of state tuition is $31,000 but direct fees is $38,000. If you include living expenses they estimate you would take out $65,000/year... for out of staters.

Going instate is good for several reasons. First of all, money. Secondly, if you're planning to practice in Indiana, going to school with your future colleagues is a huge asset as far as networking goes, especially if you want to specialize. You're going to need a referral base and it helps if the general dentists went to school with you. Lastly, money. Did I mention you should go with the cheaper school?

Alright dude, you're right. I post at work (so my school info wasn't with me) so I consulted the VCU site for my info. I was more interested if anyone had some insight on any other aspects of the two schools besides the price tag. But thanks for all the info everyone!
I know nothing about IU, but VCU was my top choice even over my local school for the following reasons. 1. My husband needs to be back down in VA to find work as a photographer. 2. The atmosphere at VCU is very comfortable. I'm sure there is pressure everywhere, but VCU doesn't act elitist... they seem to respect all of their applicants. 3. They have a good reputation. They are the only school in VA that offers a DDS. 4. They have a good placement rate for specialities. 5. The climate is great. The only downfalls for me are tuition cost and not being around my family. Pretty much my entire family has lived in Buffalo forever... immediate and a large extended family. That's the tough part for me. They are like my best friends PS It would be cool if we could be classmates. I would definitely like for you to choose VCU over IU.
