How many people apply for dental schools each year, and how many seats are available throughout American dental schools?

I know for the '08/'09 school year, CU Dental received 1600 applications. They have 52 chairs available.

You can check that on predents.com

But I heard that for the 08-09 cycle, around 16000 applicants for about 5000 seats. This is counting all dental schools in the US. I heard this from someone that just got accepted, but I am not sure how accurate this information is.
