I've got the application before AMCAS?

Hi guys.
This is my 2nd time applying.
My AMCAS is not done yet. I submitted already, but my transcript is not there yet. (I think it's there already but I didn't get a notice e mail)
I submitted it on 7/5, and got a secondary app from George Washington already.
Isn't that weird?
If AMCAS is not verified yet, how do they know that I'm applying?
I applied for GW last year, too. Is that why they send me the secondary?
It's just weird.
Any thought?

i think they get preliminary info that you're applying there and then go ahead and send you a secondary (no screening). i submitted AMCAS on the 10th and got the secondary email today.

Yeah, last year a got a couple secondaries from schools even before my AMCAS app was verified. (And I had not applied to those schools before.) I think they were schools that send EVERYONE a secondary.

I did too.

Its simple enough. But you have to remember that they probably don't want to get all the applications in at once and some schools send out secondaries to EVERYONE...I think its partially so they can charge everyone their fee too. So if they know that they're going to get it, they might as well send it to you.

But, I wasn't ready for it. I'm trying to study for the MCAT and haven't gotten my recs organized yet...thought I had more time.
