Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx, NY is offering a PGY2 position starting on July 1, 2025 within our GPR program to a resident who has completed a GPR/AEGD and is interested in working within orthodontics. The position offers the resident to have half of their schedule to work with in our orthodontic division and half in general dentistry.
On orthodontic days, the resident would receive extensive instruction and supervision in orthodontics. The resident will receive hands-on experience working with our large roster of orthodontic patients, and will treat patients in all phases of their care, while learning basic and advanced orthodontics. By the end of the year, the resident will have worked on dozens of patients, and have received hands-on experience in orthodontic evaluation, treatment planning, treatment presentation, bonding, adjustments, pre- and post- surgical care, retention in brackets and wires as well as aligners. Jacobi Medical Center Division of Orthodontics treats complex orthodontic cases with craniofacial deformities, most of whom will be undergoing surgical treatment in conjunction with their orthodontic care. The resident will work with a multidisciplinary team of oral surgeons, plastic surgeons, ENT, pediatric medicine, pediatric dentistry, audiology and speech therapy to deliver care to our patients.
On General Dentistry days, the resident will see a variety of complex cases involving crown and bridge, implants(including hybrid dentures), endodontics and periodontics. Responsibilities would also include management of OR cases for dental rehabilitation (scheduling, clearance and clinical participation). Other rotations could be added including oral surgery and special needs dentistry.
Responsibilities of the resident will include:
1) Working with orthodontic fellow and craniofacial fellow to provide direct orthodontic care
2) Participating in thrice-monthly orthognathic case conferences
3) Participating in monthly craniofacial clinic and conference
4) Attending monthly pediatric-orthodontic lectures
5) Contributing to ongoing orthodontic research
6) Assisting with the management of OR patients including scheduling
7)) Attending GP lectures
8) Providing treatment for complex, comprehensive care patients

- Eligibility for licensure in New York State
- Diploma from a CODA accredited dental school
- Certificate from a CODA accredited GPR or AEGD
- Three letters of recommendation, including from GPR/AEGD director
