JAMRS Survey

I just received a letter from the Joint Advertising Market Research & Studies program saying they will send me a survey in the future. It says it is for prospective medical students.

Is this legit? I did a search and didn't find anything (search was done on iPod so it may be different).

But how did they know I am applying? And the letter was sent to notify I may receive the survey in the future.

When you submit to AMCAS, you check off some box saying "amcas can release my info" and then the whole world knows you're applying to med school. Ever wonder where all those Ross emails come from?
