Hi, I want to apply for SMP programs but I am taking the MCAT on Jan. 2011. Would that put me at a great disadvantage in terms of applying to SMP/postbac programs?

Thanks!

It all depends on the application deadline of the SMP/Post bacc that you are applying for, but most deadlines for SMP's are in June, so I cannot see how sending in your application in February would put you at a disadvantage.

I will be taking the MCATs during January as well and applying during February. Good luck!

I talked to a lot of the SMPs and they told me that they won't look at my file until they get my MCAT score. But, some of them will substitute GRE instead if the MCAT hasn't been taken so I'm going to do that in order to get my application in by December. That way they can review it in January.

Unless I am mistaken, some (not all SMPs) applications begin around December right? So taking MCAT late January will result in scores releasing in mid-February. Will that be late? I plan on turning in my application earlier and sending my MCAT scores when released.
