Jefferson Interview/class

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
i hope not! i'm interviewing next week!

but a comment from a previous year on interview feedback said that feb. interviews were for waitlist spots.

on the other hand, i know the admissions office has a long hiatus for several weeks in March, and won't be interviewing anyone. so I suspect that interviews before April will still have a shot at an outright acceptance.

Well, unless someone has been talking to their adcom, I doubt we can give you an exact answer....BUT... the odds of getting into Jeff post interview arent too bad. Mind you they do take a handful of kids from post bacc agreements and the DIMER program, but they eventually dole out a little over 400 acceptances from ~800 interviews to fill a class of 228 (from the MSAR, its a year old though). Not bad odds 🙂

I agree...I think you have a good shot.

BEST OF LUCK!!!

To follow AMCAS traffic rules, all schools must have offered enough acceptances by March 15 to fill their entering class. However, many schools offer up to double the necessary number of acceptances, based on predictions of how many students accepted will join their class.

I know this may sound weird, but I actually do know this information. I sat in on a Student Council meeting the night after my interview at Jefferson. There is a student representative responsible for reporting to the Council about admissions. As of mid-January, they had about 225-250 students (don't remember the exact number) accepted at Jefferson. Which told me that as of January 15, anyone still interviewing was interviewing for the waitlist. And guess what? Last week I got my waitlist notification. I hope that helps for those still waiting.

I interviewed Jefferson on Jan 21 and received acceptance (my first whohoo!) on Feb. 18. So even though the class is filled they are still accepting on the basis about half their acceptances will go elsewhere.

i dont know about the whole only for waitlist interview thing b/c i interviewed on feb. 5th and got accepted on the 17th. good luck to everyone.

From their Febuary 12 meeting minutes:

There were 7484 applications, 280 spots were offered.

There have been 40 withdrawls, and 240 holding.

There are 21 alumni children, 17 dimers, and 28 minority children.

There are 14 MD/PhD students.

"minority children"? haha 😛
i'm picturing little Latino toddlers running around. . .

I interviewed at Jefferson on 2/26. It was a great experience. I remember Dean Callahan saying that they accept, not waitlist, a handful of people in each interview group.
