Hello! I’m super excited that I got into several schools, but I’m having trouble deciding.

Jefferson
- pros: location (I’m from Philly and would like to be close to my family), good w specialities
- cons: super big

Wake forest
- pros: location (while far from home, I attended undergrad in NC and have friends nearby)
- cons: not near family

Drexel
- pros: location (in Philly)
- cons: recent closing of a teaching hospital, super big, not as well ranked

Geisinger
- pros: cheaper (by about 30k a year), has regional location close to family in Atlantic City, good reputation
- cons: more primary care focused (I’m hoping to specialize), unranked, farther from home (Scranton, pa), more suburban area

I’m sure there are more pros and cons for each (research funding, for instance), and I would love to hear your opinions! Thank you in advance.

If you’d like to be close to home, which it seems you do, choose Jeff. If not, go wake

Jefferson sounds like it checks a few boxes you like between close to family and good with specialties. However, i'm not sure on how Wake does compared to Jefferson with specialties since that's more your interest than primary care.

Jefferson for sure! You seem to have the least cons for Jefferson. Second choice would be Geisinger. Their match list still had a decent number on non-primary care specialties; I see a few ortho surgery matches just by glancing at it really quick. If you're okay with being slightly farther from your family and if saving money is a priority to you, I think it wouldn't be a bad option.

Guess we are just ignoring the $120,000+ savings you'd get at Geisinger.

OP, I would eliminate Drexel from your list since Jefferson trumps it. I would also do a deeper dive and expand your pros/cons list like what the exact COA would be. Would like to note a disclaimer that Geisinger will have more primary care matches due to their scholarship program.
