Hey all, I'm alive.

Was the unfortunate anesthesiologist on call at my hospital in New Orleans this weekend so had to report Sunday at 0700...took my 2 year old and 16 year old with me...my wife bolted to Mississippi with her family and our 6 animals...

We rode the storm out...after we had minimal power, no air condition, minimal lighting...no access for trucks to bring fuel etc to the hospital...

Was released yesterday AM..drove around a war zone for 15 minutes dodging power lines and trees...thank God we made it to the last exit that wasnt flooded yet to the Crescent City Connection bridge, the only way out..am now safe with friends and my wife and family are on the way here.

I dont know what to say. One day at a time. I'll post when I can. Say some prayers, all.

Hope all is well with Military, UT, Venty, and everyone.

Jet

Glad to hear all is OK with you and yours Jet.

My prayers are with you and all those affected by the storm.

All the best to you and all suffering in there.
Lord, hear our prayers.

unbelievable. isn't the ASA conference in New Orleans? What's gonna happen with that (not that it's important compared to this disaster).

who else on this board lives down there?

it's kind of funny how this is only an internet forum, but at times it seems as though "we" the anesthesiology forum are some what of a family. ok, enough cheeziness....

But Jet glad to see that you made it out ok (we didnt have a doubt you wouldnt)...infact I figured you being the guy you are would be balsy enough to take the plane of yours and fly it straight into the eye of the storm 😉

In terms of the ASA conference. If you guys dont know already....I just got an email which I'm sure everyone's going to get....basically they are CANCELLING it in New Orleans and is in the process of rescheduling it to somewhere else, still around the same dates.

Jet,

I went through Isabell in 2003 in Norfolk. I kind of know what you guys are going through.

I figured you would probably be at your hospital. Hope things are going well.

Christ Jet glad to hear you and yours are ok.

Those rat bastard sensationalizing Fox/CNN reporters can't convey what you're enduring. Keep your head on your shoulders and if you need me to snatch up your pets, or one of your kids, to crash in Chicago lemme know.

Anything else, lemme know.

Jet! Nice to see ya again round these parts.

Keep your head up, and good luck with things.

Good to see you n the fam is in good health. Best of wishes to ya, and to the rest of those poor folks in NO suffering right now.
btw, if you run into anyone looting, kick 'em in the nutz. I can't believe some people have the sac to rob others at a time of such tragedy.

This is Kristie ****** in New Orleans. I am currently at Ochsner serving as essential personnel since Saturday. We have no AC or running water. It is
a very trying time. ... They are projecting we have over 40 billion dollars of damage to this city and at least 40,000 people homeless. This is a tragedy that I still have not fully grasped. All of the residents homes have sustained a tremendous amount of damage. No one is allowed into the city and it has been deemed uninhabitable for at least 1-2 months. Looting and crime has made it unsafe to leave the hospital. Yesterday a police officer was shot in the back of the head by a looter. Charity and Tulane hospitals are destroyed. Ochsner is one of the only functioning hospitals. This is a
very trying time for millions of people and also for the residents here. We just need all the support we can get.

Sincerely,
Kristie

Keep everyone in your prayers.

Hey Jet,

Do you guys need manpower? I could probably manage to swing down for a few days if your hospital can use an extra pair of semi-trained hands.

Mil,

I'm humbled by your post of generosity. Thanx, but the city is being evacuated. Your offer shows what kind of person you are...and saying that your hands are "semi trained" is like saying Jesus was a carpenter only.

I'll message you soon with my phone number so I can bring you up to date.
