I've been given access to the V.I.P. section of this forum.

Something I initially felt strongly against.

I was wrong.

Yep.

I admit it.

Because of the mass dissemination of this forum, trolls will always intervene at will, and as we all know, will force-to-a-hault certain threads that may have been fruitful.

The people who made this section possible deserve credit, as it allows clinicians to speak without threat.

Again, I was at fault for discrediting this idea, and I laud the individuals who made the forum-within-a-forum happen.

I'm glad you're posting in both places!!!

Ill admit, Im not fond of the idea, and I wouldnt let me in, but I hate not seeing what goes on behind closed doors.

It would be a great olive branch for you hosers to send me a password 😉

ditto, re: both comments

I'm glad y'all have found a place to discuss your more volitile topics free of trolls. I would just ask one thing. I'm a lowly M1 with no interest in anesthesia; however, often there's good general advice in here. Stuff like how the OR works, things to watch out for when entering private practice, tips for surviving residency and so forth. I hope this new forum doesn't detract from the quality of posts here on SDN.

Who is in charge of the forum? I have been in Guatemala for 5 weeks and have lost touch. I am in the ASA and will be a resident in July. Plus, I can get you all in backstage at the Compton swap meet.

I would love it if someone shot me out a PM with the goods.
Shout out to JPP...

I will keep posting 99.999999% here, while contributing/learning a-bit there.

I am interested in reaching to the masses with my successess/failures/wins/losses.

And that will continue here on SDN anesthesia.

geez....Tiger Woods would be getting 1.6 mil for a comment like that.....

.....but then again.....I'm not Tiger Woods......

...I'm not even his caddy......

not sure what you mean by this?

My records show that an invitation was extended to you almost a month ago, to which you did not reply 😎

I'd like to join the private forum as well. PGY-1 in July and an ASA member.

Thanks.

Not that easy fella's. I'm currently finishing up my prelim year and starting CA1 this july. I pm'ed "sleepisgood" and he wrote back that you have to give your name and email address so he can cross reference it on ASA website. Probably no other good way of setting the private forum system up, I just wish there was someone more independant, such as the SDN website itself that cross referenced our names. Don't know about you, but definitely not comfortable giving up my privacy to a stranger.
Maybe when i get a chance i'll set up a fake sdn name to get the password. atleast that way my current username will have some anonyminity (is that even a real word/) to it.

You guys should allow non-members the ability to read but not post.

I think that is a great idea...

only draw back i see is that people may start threads in the general forum regarding posts in the protected forum...

What's up folks.

Glad to see the increased interest! This just goes to show how we are all passionate about OUR profession and are trying to make it better each day.

I am the official moderator for the Private Forum. As stated earlier, this is not a "foreskin' society 😉 It's open to all sexes, races, cultures, whatever

We do though have some requirments. Unfortunately, I can not make any exceptions to them:
1. MUST be a ASA member
2. Must be a med student/physician resident/physician
3. Be recommened

Further, I can not PM you all and solicit you to become members, you have to PM me with interest. So those of you all that posted interest on here, please PM me.

Thanks 👍

Wow, look at how many people changed their tunes when Jet decided the private forum isn't such a bad thing after all. Now that's power.

the forum is good to encourage activism. Hope many keep visiting it.
Political activism, especially by us residents is KEY.
👍

I meet the first requirement, I could probably get the 3rd, but that pesky MD requirement is going to be a toughy.

Definitely felt the same way.

Fortunately, everyone that has joined has complied with this simple request. I do understand how you feel. However, I will be the only person responsible with your identity. No one else. As a moderator we keep this information HIGHLY confidential. It is against the terms/conditions of SDN to share this info.

Yes, you have to trust. This is the only way for us to make certain that you are who you say you are, and that you truly are a physician/student/resident physician.

Further, I am not forcing anyone to join.

I do invite you all to think about it and get back to me at your earliest convenience.

All the best 👍

I have finally popped the cherry!!

I have been a loooooong time lurker and finally decided to register and post. I recently matched in a gas residency and am currently living the lame duck lifestyle of an MS-4! I dont know about any others, but I learned a lot of information in the general anesthesiology forum here about aways, interviewing, etc. just by reading the forum. I am sure that there are many many others like myself that have yet to post, but have greatly benefitted from the knowledge passed down on this public forum. Yet at the same time I can see the usefullness of a private forum. Just wanted to say thanks to all the mentors (residents, attendgings) who post on this forum. I have gained invaluable insight into your field that I now have chosen to excitedly pursue. You have sparked the flame and fervor in me and I am sure many other med students just lurking around on this forum, and I am deeply appreicative. Lets just make sure that many topics that are appropriate for the public forum remain on this forum so that the many budding med students indecisive about their future field of medicine can have a peak into this great field! 🙂

No worries. Everyone still posts here. You can ask your questions and be assured that they will be answered.
