Vanderbilt - Full Scholarship, JHU - No free tuition.
Interested in surgery and academic medicine / research.
Location of school is not a consideration.
Parents will fund education.

Would love *slightly* more information. What vibe do you want? Do you like competition? Do you need mandatory structure? What specialties, specifically? How easy is it for your parents to fund your education? I know you say location doesn’t matter - but do you like the South? Ever dreamed of living in NYC?

Right now I’d say go Vanderbilt - great school with P/F and hard to justify paying tuition to go to any of your other options if you have no preferences stated in this post.

Thanks.
Healthy competition is okay. Would prefer some or less rigid structure over no structure at all.
Hoping to pursue cardiac or thoracic surgery, if I am lucky.

For cardiac, you could consider going to a program with an I6 in-house. Columbia, Yale, Penn.

I still think Vanderbilt would work perfectly fine for you - P/F clinicals are huge and free (aside from COA) is really hard to turn down. I have heard excellent things about Vanderbilt gen surg program, would get you set up well for applying for gen surg + fellowship or I6.

Can answer any questions you have about Yale as a current student (e.g. there isn't "no structure" here) but my vote is still strongly Vandy here.
