I'm a rising third year and looking to work part-time to pay for wedding/honeymoon expenses instead of adding to my ever growing student loan debt. I'm thinking about just waiting tables or something.

Can anyone comment on if you were or were not able to manage an evening/weekend job during the last two years of school?

Thanks in advance!

I think it's possible. Some states allow dental students to work as dental hygienist in 3rd or 4th year.

Yeah that would be awesome. I looked into it once. Where I'm at you have to have passed NBDE part I and II to practice as a hygienist, and I'm not supposed to take part II until next year.

Do you happen to know if the boards are something you can study for and take whenever you want or do you have to become eligible?

I have a classmate that worked as a bartender before school, and continues to bartend on weekends. She works at a bar in the French Quarter, so a lot of tourists = good tips. She is a great student, and her job doesn't seem to affect her schooling at all.

There are plenty of good on-campus jobs you can get. A couple classmates work in the library and basically get to study or do whatever they want the whole time.
