Like the title implies, say I obtain my medical degree from a EU country but am not a EU citizen. Can I still find employment opportunities in the Netherlands? Is Knowing Dutch a requirement? The reason I am asking this is because I am a US undergrad who is contemplating about attending a EU medical school, most likely one in Poland(Warsaw, Silesia,Poznan, etc) for its 4 year English program. The reason being because I have always wanted to become a doctor in Europe, and have fallen in love with the Netherlands in particular after many visits and stays. I know that obtaining a residency position in the Netherlands is extremely difficult and that their medical schools operate more on a lottery system. Would it be practical to earn my degree from poland and complete a residency in a EU country and then apply for doctor positions in the Netherlands?
Anyways sorry for the long post but I am just having a VERY difficult time deciding whether I should pursue this dream of becoming a doctor in the Netherlands or Europe in general vs just staying in the states like my family wants. Basically, am I being realistic in my expectations? Thank you for your time and your possible replies 🙂
