Hi, y'all. Been MIA cause of residency and just trying to grind and learn. I'm graduating in 2027...I know, it's a little early to start looking but I'm browsing to see what the world is like out there.

Would appreciate any leads about places you've heard about who is in possible need of someone around that time. Open to everything and anything. I don't care if it's not surgical or limited. I'm well versed in all aspect specifically trauma and wounds. Only thing I've never done so far is TAR. I just want to be paid appropriately for my work and not get taken advantage of. Thanks!

I will spread the word amongst the private practice owners that there's a young malcontent out there looking for a job and hopefully you'll just end up highly paid at a hospital.

In other news - you just gotta grind.

Start figuring out the websites where you'll be looking and favoriting them them.
Start building personal statements, your CV. Will you apply to a private practice and a hospital the same way?
Ask your seniors for their CVs for inspiration
Try and get the CVs of big deal people - figure out what you have in common with them / what you'd list.
Build your usajobs profile if you want to try for VA/IHs.
If you want to be in a certain area - get a state director of hospitals and start figuring out how you'd cold call / email etc.

A job posted on a jobs board is a position everyone can apply for. And here's a painful one. So many of the jobs posted on this forum were already out there / posted elsewhere previously. I can't tell you how many times airbud has shared a job 2 months before it shows up on SDN.

Years ago I should've listened to you, feli and fury about this profession but I didn't. After couple of years into pod school I learned alot from y'all over the years.

It may be too early in the sense that they may want someone sooner, but it isn't too early in the sense that the experience of trying will likely be invaluable. The job that wants someone sooner is also likely the job that's already open and posted as opposed to the job that you find, create, and make for yourself.

Your best bet jokingly remains the hospital who doesn't realize that podiatrists are easy to hire. The kind of place that has been trying to hire an obgyn/ortho for 2 years and never had an actual applicant.

You've heard the negatives. Now keep in mind that some of the crappy things I said about podiatry were written over a 2 hours lunch break while I was home with my wife and kids. The other day I got a new roof. The workers started at 6am which is substantially sooner than my surgery center can get a case going. They were falling asleep on my yard furniture over their lunch break. I think you'll find this is still a better job than the manual labor jobs put forward on here and I know you were like a plumber or something once.
