Yes, the GPR exists. There are currently 2 residents, both Maryland graduates.

Hup

I heard a rumor that they may instate a GPR/the web site lists someone as a GPR director (see link below), but there's no info on how to apply. Anyone know definitively if the GPR has been set up, and what it's all about? I figure it has a lot of Oral Med weight since it is Hopkins.

You saw the program directors page, you can always call him.

I believe they take applications through PASS.

if you look you can find more:

Welcome to the Division of Dentistry and Oral Surgery. We are committed to delivering the best oral health care for our patients in a hospital setting. Our core team includes general dentists, dental hygienist, maxillofacial prosthodontist, and oral and maxillofacial surgeons.

We are able to treat the full-spectrum of oral, dental, and jaw-related problems from simple dental decay to complex maxillofacial defects secondary to surgery, trauma, and congenital deformities.

Our team is especially focused on the surgical, restorative, prosthetic, and cosmetic techniques related to implant dentistry. We welcome the difficult and complex restorative cases, knowing that we can draw on the expertise of our colleagues in otolaryngology, especially cosmetic plastic surgery and head and neck surgery, as well as those in other Hopkins departments to provide a multidisciplinary perspective as needed to ensure the best possible treatment.

Our expertise also extends to dental assessment and management prior to head and neck radiation therapy, heart surgery, bone marrow and solid-organ transplant surgery, and other disease processes where identifying and treating dental disease may play a role in a successful outcome.

To make an appointment, call 410-955-6663.

In addition to patient care, the Division is committed to educating the public about oral health issues such as:

• Need for oral cancer screenings
• Dangers of tobacco use
• Importance of regular checkups
• How oral/dental health affects one's overall wellness
We are also instituting a General Practice Residency program, to afford recent dental school graduates an opportunity to further their education in hospital dentistry.

Thank you.

William Henderson, D.D.S.
Interim Director, Division of Dentistry and Oral Surgery

Dr. Petrone is the new director, I have worked with him and his program looks very good (though I am prejudice to my own (grin))

should be easy to contact

Apparently the program is in its first year since it was reinstated...not sure how long it was defunct, though. There is a lot of cancer screenings, etc. according to the director. Hopefully I will find out more, soon with a visit! Anyone on here one of the 2 current residents/know them well enough to see how their experience has been thus far? Hup?

I am looking for a position in an AEGD or GPR program in this coming 2011-2012 cycle. Please let me know if you are aware of any openings.
Best of luck!
