Hi everyone,

I'm currently in the application process and was doing some research on Johns Hopkins. Well I found a website that had a post by a Medical student at Johns Hopkins. Is his assesment accurate.

I guess I'm asking anyone who knows much about Johns Hopkins.

Here is the Site I can't remember exactly where the post is but here is the main page and i think its on the first page anyhow. I also found some other useful stuff like USMLE materials that might help you guys (find it there)...

well, i sort of feel out of place in this forum since i'm not a medical student yet ( 😕 ) but thought i would share with you gals and guys.

Peace!

I think Hopkins is nothing short of incredible, and I agree with everything that the reviewer wrote on the website you mentioned.

Please PM/e-mail me with any questions you may have.

Nothing really..Like I said, I found this review interesting...

DrHTM,

I graduated from Hopkins in 2001. I have never heard of anyone from Hopkins failing Step 1. Maybe some people fail it and never mention it to anyone. You don't need to pass it to advance to clinical rotations. In fact, they don't even require that you take it because at least some of their graduates plan on going straight into lab work, and therefore don't need to bother with a license.

I didn't think Step 1 was that hard. Most people pass it the first time. Don't know where this stat is from, but I heard 96% pass on the first round- that's of all people taking it, not of Hopkins people taking it. I studied for it for a month, but the questions were not very tricky, and I thought that the exams from second year of med school were much tougher.

I don't think that the Step 1 pass rate should be used to judge a med school. Although if the pass rate is really miserable, then I guess you should think twice about that school.

Thanks linie,

your input was very insightful....
