Has anyone here done one? Do you use it in your current position or does on the job training cut it most of the time? I already have a bachelors degree in finance, so I think that would suffice if I get into management (I'm applying for 2007). If I do decide to do a PharmD/MBA do I have to apply at the same time or can I do the MBA in the middle of pharmacy school? I am also interested in research and developing drugs. I am not sure if I can even do that with a PharmD, does anyone here currently do that? Thanks a bunch!

I am currently a dual degree student at Campbell University. They have a couple of options, one is the MBA/PharmD you mentioned and another is Masters in Clinical Research which is what I am doing. It seems to really open your options up to what you can do after Pharmacy school and would really differentiate yourself as one of many PharmD holders once you graduate if you wanted to get into any research in the future (which can be done even if you want to stick to clinical/community pharmacy).

Dual degree programs put some extra stress on you and will cost you some more money, but you do get another degree in about 10-15 less credits you would do if you got it seperate since classes overlap between the 2 programs.

Goodluck!

Mercer has a joint PharmD/MBA program. They talked to us a little about it during orientation. I think it would be helpful to know in advance that you were interested in this, but it isn't necessary that you declare ahead of time at Mercer. It appeared to me that it would be one extra class a semester (I'm sure you've already got all the MBA prereqs you need).
