I was wondering why juiliard's acceptence rate was so low, do they audition every applicant? Also can I apply to med school out of juiliard with the reqs?

I'm a complete outsider on the subject but my understanding was that attending Juliard is an art school (one of the best).

I'm not sure they grant a bachelors degree, if they do I'm not sure they teach the requisite courses for med school. This isn't to say you can't take them somewhere else.

I auditioned at Juilliard myself, back in the day. Wasn't accepted though - they were only taking one oboe the year I auditioned. Anyway, having Juilliard on your resume would be awesome, especially since med schools look for well-rounded applicants. Keep in mind, however, that you will not be able to take the med school pre-requisite courses at a school like Juilliard. Depending on your major, you may or may not have time to take them at a university while studying there.

I believe Julliard is like the Harvard of the performing arts, which would explain why the acceptance rate is low. It's supposed to be one of the top conservatories in the world or something.

As a graduate from the Eastman School of Music (another prestigious conservatory-like program), and recent applicant to medical school, let me say that it is possible to do both. Juilliard DOES grant a Bachelor's degree, specifically a Bachelor of Music (BM)-- if pursuing music. You will not take any science or math classes. You will more than likely not have the time to take these courses while pursuing your BM; that means you will need to get the medical school pre-requisites done after completing your BM.

Juilliard is one of the top music schools in the country. They do also offer dance, theatre and. . .? It is very competitive in every way and therefore has a low acceptance rate.
