Hi, I apologize if this was asked before. I did search, but my google-fu is limited.

I have my AMCAS completed, but my MCAT test (Aug 3rd) was cancelled due to the credit card being declined AFTER the confirmation (a few weeks after, actually). The earliest I can get in my area now is Sept 1st. I'm wondering if I should forget applying altogether this year or continue with this year.

Based on what I found, most people have suggested to wait a year. It seems like September 1 = October 1st application. I couldn't tell if this is regardless of whether I turn around secondaries throughout July and August, or if this is assuming people complete their AMCAS after their MCAT.

My stats, if they are important:

3.54 Undergraduate
3.0 Graduate
34 MCAT (older than 3 years)

yikes, rough. i'd say apply to your state school (if you have one) this year but don't waste your money with a ton of schools. with your gpa you need to apply early and broadly, and you're right that being "complete" in october is pretty late.

Wait until next year. You'll be throwing money away applying that late.

You have a really good MCAT score though. Does it matter that it's 3 years old? Have people tried applying with old MCAT scores before? I think sometimes the school can give you an exception.

Most schools don't accept scores over 3 years.

🙁 Sigh, that's what I was afraid of. I feel like I've waited enough years. I really hate this system.

But what's done is done. Class of 2014, I guess...

Still taking the MCAT though, get that sucker out of the way! 🙂

Just a thought: what about the new schools, the ones that don't have a residency match yet? Would those be more forgiving to a "late" applicant?

It's not that schools "dislike" late applicants its that by the time you'd submit so many interview and potentially accepted spots are filled and there's a huge number of ppl in front of you to be reviewed. I don't think new schools are an exception to this, sorry. You can try of course... But idk if that's the way to go.
